COMMUNITY STORIES PROJECT
Marshfield, Wisconsin
This
fall residents of Marshfield, Wisconsin will host a three-day writing
workshop which will bring together 20 participants to envision their
community's future. The published workshop writings will stimulate Marshfield
residents to engage in a wider public dialogue on their community's
assets and needs, and how they might fulfill those needs. The last day
of this four-day session is devoted to teaching the participants the
writing workshop and group facilitation methods.

Stax Records was a major R&B and Soul Music label in the 1960s and
1970s. Many of its artists, white and black, lived in the studio's
neighborhood. This four-day workshop will bring residents and former
Stax artists and employees together to record their recollections
of Stax Records and the area. These will be included in a book of
photographs, stories, and essays documenting Stax Records.
